Fishing in Assynt

The loch and river fishing in Assynt and its near waters are controlled by two different organisations.

In the north, the fishing is controlled by the Assynt Crofters Trust. There are about two hundred or so lochs all containing wild brown trout and the occasional char. Boats are available on some of the lochs
Permits and further information are available from:
In the rest of Assynt, the fishing is administered by the Assynt Angling Group on behalf of the estate owners. The area is split up into three zones and permits for any zone are available from:
Sea fishing is on two levels. Some people fish off the rocks at the seashore, while others go on organised boat trips. Enquire at the Assynt Visitor Centre about sea-angling trips.
