Useful Programs

The opinions expressed below are the web authors own.

Note Tab

Professional $29.95
Standard $19.95
Lite $0
This is a good text editor enabling you to have multiple files open at the same time. The paid-for versions colour-code different parts of an html file. (Blue for tags, red for URL's and black for content). The tabs for each file can be color-coded.

Another difference is that in the paid-for versions you can do a text replacement in a group of files without even opening them.

CSE HTML Validator

Professional $129 Standard $69 Lite $0 The lite version is suitable for beginners. It does, however, tell you the number of warnings and errors that the paid-for versions would have found. It also validates CSS files as well as HTML files.

Site Publisher

(Home use) $24.95
Unlike most FTP programs, which involve 'dragging' files from one window to another, Site Publisher is a 'one-click' updater. It does, however, take some initial setting-up. It is advisable to make a copy of your set-up data in a back-up text file.

Paint.net

A free graphics program.
This program can be used to resize pictures. It also can be used to annotate graphics better than any other graphics program that I have tried for this purpose.

Blumentals

Rapid CSS Editor (business) €29.85
